What image file types do I use for my Scoreboard?

What "image" file types do I use for my Scoreboard?

The following file types are specific to Solid Scoreboard systems (other brand systems may be different).
"File types" world-wide are increasing. Many will work within the Solid system but the following are our preferred file types.
This reasoning varies.
  1. JPG images are common world-wide.
    1. For most advertising images.
  2. Similar are PNG files, except they can have "transparent" areas.
    1. Typically used on scoreboards as
      1. Player profile images (cropped with transparent backgrounds).
      2. Team logos (also cropped with transparent backgrounds).
  3. There are many video formats.
    1. Solid prefers WMV files (windows media video)
      1. These files are very lean (byte size) and aid faster activation (even on lessor PC systems).
      2. There are many online-video-convertors available to help you create these, ie. convert your MP4 to WMV
        1. These convertors can resize at the same time
        2. If you resize your video to the exact pixel size of your LED screen, it will be a smaller file size and faster to execute, ie. after a goal is scored.
          1. An example of this could be
            1. A 7 second MP4 goal animation at a HD size (1920x1080px) = 4.9MB
            2. The same image saved as a WMV at your specific scoreboard size... 576x432px = 1.9MB
        3. An example of a free online convertor is the following:  (there are many different convertors)
          1. https://video.online-convert.com/convert-to-wmv
        4. The steps to use this convertor are:
          1.  drag your video file into this box on the web page
          2. Punch in your correct "scoreboard pixel size"
          3. Choose suitable cropping. Either...
              OR
            1. Try both to see the difference
"Crop" will chop off some of your image (but, fill your scoreboard).
          4. Press  to commence the conversion.
          5. Press  to get the file onto your PC, then..
            Download your new WMV file
            from your computer download folder.
Load into the appropriate folder on your Scoreboard PC.
          6. There are many other settings available in this convertor.
          7. As a FREE version it only handles short clips.  Consider paying if you need longer clips.

    2. Did you struggle with the above instructions? You're not alone :)
      1. Choices:
        1. Enlist the Solid team to handle all of your graphic prep (obviously there is a fee, call us to discuss)
          1. This service is NOT for "creating" your ads. We just size & crop so they suit your scoreboard.
        2. Ask around at your club (delegate!!).
          1. There will be plenty of members that have these skills. Try asking around for:
            1. Printers, signies, web folk, or...
            2. Geeks that can follow the above instructions, or...
            3. Grab anyone kid still at school. Nowadays, most kids can do this stuff blind-folded.
